FINAL PROJECT: Animated Infographics
(Halloween vs Hungry Ghost Festival / Day of the Dead)
09.01.19 - 25.01.19 (Week 1 - Week 3)
For the final project, me and my group decided to make a comparison of "Halloween" vs "Hungry Ghost Festival".
First of all, we need to make the script of how are we going to explain about our topic. Mr. Shamsul shows us the 5W+1H which could guide us in making it.

Here are our sources of information:
After gathering all the information needed, we moved on to making the slides and present it to the class. Along the way, our classmates understand what we're trying to explain, but Mr. Shamsul suddenly asked us a question if Halloween and Day of the Dead (Celebration in Mexico: "Coco" Movie) are the same. We couldn't answer the question at the time so we researched more into it.
We found out the answer after countless of times visiting many websites. It turns out that Halloween and Day of the Dead are different celebrations. Based on what the websites and "Coco" movie has explained, Day of the Dead are welcoming the deceased spirits and we offer them offerings to celebrate their return to the living world. However, Halloween is different. Halloween is evil spirits coming out from the world of the dead and bring harm to the livings. That is why children and teenagers dressed themselves as scary things to blend in with the evil spirits or scare them away so that the kids wouldn't be harmed.
After we come out with conclusion, we explained it to the lecturers and they approved. Since many people often mistaken Halloween and Day of the Dead are the same celebrations (which is not), we asked Mr. Shamsul if we could add additional information for Day of the Dead, and he says we can.

After doing the narration script and Crystal's doing the voice over, we divided ourselves into 3 teams:
- Sketches: Chelin and Helen (me)
- Digital Illustrations: Andrea and Feryn
- Animations: Chiquita and Crystal
Since my part is the first part, I made the first rough sketches with Chelin.

We were told to make an animation with our rough sketches to show our progress to the lecturers.

After we showed this to the lecturers, Mr. Jeffrey said that it's good, but it's not something that could go viral. He wants us to make it better and maybe how we are now is because we're too depended on 5W+1H. We need to have some improvements.
After doing the rough sketches, the sketches team moved on to the detailed sketches for the illustration teams could work on. If the illustration team has done working, animation team will be up next. That's how the cycle goes in our group, so no one will stop working.
