PROGRESS OF VORMATOR

29.08.18 - 03.09.18 (Week 1 - Week 2)

At these weeks, I haven't arrived in Taylor's because of visa matters so I haven't done anything for my project yet.

10.09.18 (Week 3)

I arrived in week 3 and the teachers told me that the others are working on character design and I should start by familiarising myself with pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to catch up.

https://bezier.method.ac/

This was the website that I used first time in using Adobe Illustrator. And I always come back to it whenever I feel lost when working with pen tool.

Fig 1.1
Mad Rabbit

This was actually my first try in Adobe Illustrator and I thought that the character design could be anything, so I made Mad Rabbit. I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but Mr. Kannan said that I shouldn't make something from what's already exist. He told me to keep this and maybe put it on my blog.

Basic Shapes Challenge

Mr. Kannan then told me that I should make my own character design just from the basic shapes of the picture above. I need to combine them and make a monster character as in pokemon. But before that, I need to make sketches of what I want to do.

Fig 1.3
Sketch of Vormator

This was what I want to do for the first time. A Nine-Tailed Fox demon of some sort. But It was too complicated and it will be lasercut. I need to think of something else. And before I knew it, I already made it on Adobe Illustrator without sketching anymore. I directly improvised it on Adobe Illustrator.

First Attempt Vormator and Silhouette

I suddenly came up with an idea to make a little dog monster. I showed it to Mr. Kannan and he said that I should put lines on the character design; don't leave it with no outlines. And there's another problem, I thought I could use any other shapes beside the basic shapes to make the vormator, but turns out that I shouldn't. It was the challenge, so I need to follow the rules.

We were learning about the silhouette about that too and rather than changing my vormator first, I'd rather learn how to make the silhouette first and fix the vormator later.

Second Attempt Vormator and Silhouette

I've fixed my character design and showed it to Mr. Kannan once more. He said I'm allowed to use this one, rather than the previous ones. Then, I added the silhouette and combined it with the vormator.

17.09.18 (Week 4)

At this week, I started to make the background. I didn't sketch it again, I just do it in Adobe Illustrator directly. I guess I'm too lazy to sketch and I had this picture of the background, so I started doing it immediately before it disappears. And I need to download the pokemon card template from google and combine my pokemon background with the card.

24.09.18 (Week 5)

This week, me and my classmates went to Fabspace in KL where we lasercut our vormator. I haven't really shows my vormator works to Mr. Hafiz and when I tried to ask his opinion about mine, he said that I did a really good job. I was late to class and he's glad that I could catch up with a nice work as well.

For the laser cut, we need to make a red outline for the laser knows where to cut.

I only need to give the lasercut staff in Fabspace two things above and done.

Final Outcome of Vormator

This is the lasercut result of my and my friend's vormator. We need to lasercut in groups to make the price cheaper and not wasting the wood board for lasercutting.

After done with lasercutting my vormator, I printed the pokemon card in Mummy Design, Sunway.
